Cultivation of Bacterial Cultures
This stage will consist of the cultivation of bacterial cultures and testing for the bioactivity of secondary metabolites. This will be undertaken in two phases. In the first phase, microorganisms will be aseptically harvested under the appropriate atmospheric conditions and stored at 4 C. In the second phase, secondary compounds will be extracted from the growth media of metabolically active cultures. Organic compounds will be size-fractioned and tested for antimicrobial activity.
